"Born in Rhodesia in 1959, Alan Brassington returned with his family to their native Ireland. Having studied at art school he went on to work on North Sea oil rigs as roustabout and, later, as derrickman for five years.In 1990 Alan Brassington held his first London exhibition and he has exhibited extensively since then, not only in London but also in New York, Dublin and at the Royal Ascot Racing Club.As an artist, he is best known for his atmospheric and vibrant paintings of the horseracing world. In 1997 he was commissioned to paint the Princess Royal by Timeform, producers of race cards. The painting was auctioned at the Timeform Dinner, with the proceeds being donated to the Princess's chosen charity, Riding for the Disabled.Other commissions include works for Ascot Racecourse, The Royal Ascot Racing Club, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia and many other eminent individual owners and those involved in the equestrian world."
