Kunstenaar Marco Chicapouje

"This remarkable animal artist was born in Brasilia in 1960 to Spanish and Hungarian parents. Brought up in a household of animal lovers and keen conservationists, Marco Chicapouje could not have failed to have been fired with the same enthusiasms. After leaving school in the late Seventies, he back-packed his way around the South American continent before spending two years exploring Europe and Asia, honing his considerable artistic talent and working in casual jobs to support himself.After many years of travel and exploration, Marco Chicapouje returned to Brazil to study art and design in a local college. After finishing his studies, he went to work in a prestigious Sao Paulo design agency. It was during this period that he met his wife, Danish-born Cecilia. They are both keen travellers and conservationists, and they spent a considerable period in Europe before settling in England. There, whilst Cecilia has pursued her career in international corporate law, Marco has turned to painting full-time and creates wonderful, evocative images which reflect his extensive travels. His unique style has developed partly from his love and knowledge of nature, and partly from a desire to create interesting and fun images for his children.Marco Chicapouje lives in a small village near London with Cecilia, their two children, three cats, a dog and a parrot."
