Artist Adolphe Balfourier

"Born in Montmorency (Seine-et-Oise), France in 1816, Balfourier became a painter and engraver. Balfourier started a career in law, which he abandoned to devote himself to painting. He studied at Ch. Raymond and then visited Italy, Spain and France to obtain inspiration from nature and to study the great masters. Balfourier regularly sent his paintings to the Paris Salon during the years 1843-1875 and he received an award in 1844 for his Lac Lugano."
