Artist Adri Scherpenberg
Adrie Scherpenberg, (who signs her art, A3) was born in Amsterdam
in 1964.
Her artistic development was, as with many artists, an exploration –
discovering her niche in producing high impact, large, graphic portraits
of a basic black, white and grey, all with a simplistic and minimalist
identity.
Her reluctant introduction of colour into her work came from an
inspirational visit to Prague and her witnessing the bold, bright use of
colour in the work of Czech graphic artist Ladislav Sutnar. As a result
her portraits took on a new direction and further exploration.
